what we do

talking about climate has started to feel like an annoying fly buzzing in your ear at night. not because it matters less — but because the discourse is exhausted, the political climate is fractured, and somewhere between the polycrisis and the polarization, something got lost.

mutual matter is trying to find it again.

we're a printed zine — a small magazine made from a single folded sheet of paper — approaching climate change through art, from angles that usually get left out. systems, power, inequality, labour, borders, emotions, the things you thought you'd never miss.

we do three things:

we make climate change less abstract. more palpable, more intriguing — and sometimes, more personal. we explain the concepts that feel distant or vague by grounding them in everyday experience.

we do it through art and creative forms. because sometimes a story, a poem, or an illustration gets further than a report.

and we try to show up in places this conversation doesn't usually reach. pubs, laundromats, bus stations. the places where people actually are.

somewhere along the way, we hope to build a community around it — people thinking together about what the future could look like, through art, action, and education.

want to be part of it?

if you have an idea — something you miss, something you think goes unseen, something tied to invisibility in any form — we'd love to hear it. we welcome all forms: essays, poems, photographs, illustrations, scientific explainers, collages, interviews…

we work on open calls and encourage experimentation. you can publish anonymously. don't be shy.

your idea might end up in someone's pocket.
